Setting the Record Straight: Truth Over Misinformation

As an elected official, my responsibility is to serve the people of Waxhaw with integrity, honesty, and transparency. Unfortunately, false and misleading claims have been spread about my position on the selection of an interim town manager; claims that are now being used as an excuse to obstruct town business.

Let me be absolutely clear: I have never advocated for “installing” former Mayor Ron Pappas as interim town manager. This claim is completely false. The former mayor himself has publicly stated that he does not have time for public service due to his current obligations.

Now, the Town of Waxhaw itself has issued a statement confirming that this claim was never true. Below is an excerpt from the official press release, which proves the misinformation being spread:

We want to be clear—at no point was former Mayor Ron Pappas considered for the role of interim town manager,” Mayor Murray said. “Misinformation has been circulating on this topic, and it’s important that our residents have the facts.
— Mayor Robert Murray

Despite this official statement, certain commissioners are now refusing to attend meetings, preventing a quorum from being established and bringing town business to a halt — all based on a proven falsehood. This obstruction directly impacts our ability to serve the residents of Waxhaw and address the needs of our community.

As your commissioner, I remain committed to showing up, fulfilling my role, and making responsible decisions for Waxhaw. I encourage my colleagues to do the same. Regardless of political differences, we all have a duty to govern, and not to spread misinformation or refuse to fulfill our responsibilities.

I welcome any resident who has concerns to reach out to me directly. Let’s move forward together—with facts, not falsehoods, and with a shared commitment to the town we all love.

Commissioner Jason McCloy Hall
